Questions & Answers
-
Do you accept insurance?
Insurance does not typically cover the cost of Couples Counseling as it is not considered "Medically Necessary".
I am considered an out of network provider meaning I do not take insurance. Insurance companies have the right to access your therapy notes and determine how many sessions they will allow us. They can decide to no longer cover sessions based on their interpretation of your progress and also require us to give you a diagnosis for billing purposes.
I am passionate about being able to meet you where you are at in your process of healing and growth and don’t believe that people fit into the boxes insurance often requires of them.
Therefore, I do not accept insurance, however, I am happy to create a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible partial reimbursement and accept HSA cards.

Do you offer virtual services?
Yes! Currently, I see all of my couples virtually. It requires you and your partner to be in the same room on the same device.
Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
Research suggests that virtual or video-delivered psychotherapy is as effective as therapy provided in person (Venturo-Conerly, K. E., et al., 2021; Fernandez et al., 2021).
Ultimately, what’s most important is that you’re able to form a strong “therapeutic alliance” with your therapist, regardless of whether you meet with them online or in-person. We know that a strong “therapeutic alliance” (i.e., the emotional bond between client and therapist and level of agreement on the tasks and goals of therapy) is associated with better outcomes, Tasca et al. (2018).
We provide online therapy to people who reside in the state of Ohio.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?
A “Good Faith Estimate” explains how much your medical and mental health care will cost. You can ask for this before you schedule a session.
Under the law, health care provides need to give patients who don’t have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical service, including psychotherapy services. Please inform us if you do not have insurance or don’t plan to use insurance, and you will be provided with a Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises. -
How long does therapy typically take?
Typically, I see a couple weekly for 8 sessions, and then bi-weekly until the progress is such that the couple may decide to go to monthly check-ins (This is flexible). It is different for everyone, depending on what issues a couple is trying to address. For example, some communication issues resolve quicker with therapy than a history of betrayal would. On average, couples complete treatment after 12-15 sessions.
-
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept Credit Cards and HSA Cards. All payments are due at the start of your scheduled session.
-
What is your cancellation Policy?
If for any reason you are unable to attend an appointment, I ask clients for 48 hours notice. For any appointments cancelled or missed without at least 48 hours notice, clients will be responsible for the full session fee.
